"Encourage Your Siblings" Challenge

Calling all older sisters!

Do you have little siblings? Have you looked down lately into their beautiful little eyes and realized how closely they are watching you? Those little eyes are watching big sister's responses, life, and attitudes. We have been given a humbling privilege to invest in the lives of these precious souls. The Lord has given us these days and years together - but they will not last forever. We must embrace the daily opportunities we have been given and bless and encourage our little brothers and sisters to seek the Lord in the days of their youth.

We are excited about this opportunity to invest in the lives of our siblings together! We are not promised "tomorrow," so let us invest in the opportunity God has given us—today.

Begins: April 1, 2013

"Ends": April 30, 2013 (we encourage you to continue the challenge year-around!)

Wanted: Big sisters who will dedicate the month of April to investing in their younger siblings in very special ways, especially in seeking the Lord Jesus and loving His Word.

The Challenge:

Read at least a chapter of the Bible (Proverbs is a wonderful book!) with your siblings every day. Discuss how these insights you read about can be applied and share how the Lord has blessed you in the past when you obeyed these principles.

Memorize at least one Bible verse with your siblings every week throughout April. Find creative ways to do this—write out and decorate the verses with markers, recite them at breakfast daily, hang them up around rooms—be creative!

Recite this verse weekly together to your parents.

Make memories—do fun activities with your siblings each week. A few ideas are cooking together, doing craft projects, going on walks, playing tag or other games, dressing up and "playing house" with them. (We will be posting weekly articles on our forum with ideas on how to encourage siblings and fun project ideas. Be sure to subscribe to our forum updates now so you receive each weekly article in your inbox this month.) Most importantly, be available to talk with and encourage your siblings throughout the day.

Reward your siblings at the end of April by making a special party dinner together. Make this a lot of fun—plan the menu, work together, and be creative (serving your parents a yummy meal at the same time)! Decorate place mats, have a theme and wear fancy outfits - and at the end, recite the verses together that were memorized throughout the month.

We would LOVE to hear about your sibling challenge and special dinner! At the end of April, please share a testimony (email challenges@kingsbloomingrose.com) and send along pictures of you with your siblings, your special party dinner, or projects you did together! We would love to share these stories with others who took the challenge (specify if you would like your testimony shared or not).

*Note: We are encouraging sisters to personally invest and encourage their siblings to seek the Lord, but this is not to replace or supplement the spiritual authority, leadership, and family devotions their fathers provide.
